101 Reasons to Blog

Hello hello readers and welcome to Blogmas Day 6! I know I said it before, but it bears repeating: I give props to people who blog every single day for a living. How do you all not run out of ideas? I'm impressed honestly and if you were all here in front of me, I'd clap for you all. Also huge sinus infection update: I can officially smell and taste again! It has been a week since I lost those senses since being sick, so I'm so happy to have those back. I'm still struggling with the sniffles and stuffy nose, as well as coughing, but I'm hoping to be 100% by Saturday!

Now, for today's blog, don't be misled by my blog title. I'm not literally going to list 101 reasons as to why to blog; I just wanted to be witty (did it work?). Today's blog is me sharing with you all why I blog, and maybe you can get some inspiration to blog because honestly, it's tons of fun. It all started around 12th grade where I found a love for writing. It was a combination of a great English teacher and an amazing Creative Writing class/teacher. With those two classes and teachers, I found a love in writing I had no idea existed.

In those classes, both made us start class with writing in our journals. Some days the topics for our journal were specific, other days we made up the topic. I would write so much in my journal to the point where my handwriting looked like chicken scratch (it still kind of does). I wrote about stories of The Princess, relationships, daily struggles, stories I made up on the spot; my mind and the pencil were at one when I would write.

As I got older, I knew, and still plan to, I wanted to one day become a speaker to a large audiences with my voice and stories, real or fiction. However, because I don't have a lot of experience, I had to start small; so I made a blog! My very first blog I made around 2014. It was a Wordpress blog and I posted a few times a week, and my blog was about self love. I eventually abandoned that blog after a month, not because I stopped caring (self love is still extremely important to me), but my heart wasn't truly in it. 2014 was a very difficult year for me, and I couldn't blog about self love when I was still struggling on and off with the concept of self love.

Then around 2016, I created another Wordpress blog! This time, I blogged about my life. I had a handful of followers, but again, I abandoned it because my heart still wasn't in it. I'm assuming you can see a pattern here when it comes to me making blogs. Why did I keep making these blogs and just dropping them? Writing is a passion of mine, inspiring people with my stories is something I want to make a career or my life doing, yet I kept letting go. Not only was my heart not in it, but I didn't believe in myself.

When it comes to blogging, you have to not only commit, but believe in yourself. For me, I blog because I want my voice heard, I want to share my stories, the ups and downs, and I want to inspire people. Honestly, I have several dreams, both big and small, but one of my biggest dreams is to have people reach out to me and say, "you inspired me", "you showed me to never give up", "I wouldn't be where I am if it wasn't for you". Maybe it's a big and far-fetched dream, but that's why I blog. I blog because I adore writing, I blog because I feel at one with myself when I type my thoughts and feelings for others to read, I blog because I want to inspire.

So here we are, nearing the end of 2017 and in about four weeks, we'll be entering 2018. For this blog, The Pastel Princess, I won't give up this blog because not only to I have an amazing network of new blogging friends, people who are actually reading and sharing my work, but because my heart is 100% in it. I may still have my sad moments, I may still struggle with getting out of bed and find motivation, but knowing my dream and having a way to reach it with my blog, that's why I keep going. In the comments below, if you're a blogger, share with me your reasons why you blog! If you want to become a blogger but don't know where to start, you're also welcomed to comment and I'll do my best to help out as much as I can. As always, thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog, like, comment, share, and subscribe, and I'll see you tomorrow!
